the marie + sophia ones
The first time I spoke with Marie on the phone – I knew I had found a kindrid spirit of sorts. Her expression of “apples, and rustic, and vintage, and autumn” were words enough for me to know that I would be in so much heaven doing a photo shoot for Marie and her stunning little lady, Sophia.
And my, what a busy, but absolutely beautiful little lady Sophia is!
I was well aware of the workout I had coming, doing a photo shoot with an 18 month old…so it was with much relief that I saw Marie and Sophia arrive with sister, Theresa, and boyfriend-of-sister, Bevan in tow. Did I hear you say ‘instant assistants’? Why yes I think you did. (And what fabulous assistants they were)
I have never seen such delight in a little girl such as that which I witnessed in the eyes of Marie, Theresa and Bevan on this crisp late autumn day. There was enough love to fill the entire field that we were in, beautifully exhibited with plenty of hugs and kisses and tickles and games and giggles (and bribery by chocolate…). I really just didn’t want to stop shooting in case I missed anything!
It was honestly one of those fabulous afternoons that you mull over happily for weeks on end. I was so glad that we managed to catch the last of the crimson leaves before winter set in, and capture some beautiful, beautiful memories…all wrapped up in apples and rustic and vintage and autumn.

Aaaaaaaaaaaaah babies….need I say more??
If you had to ask me if babies are more amazing inside the tum than out, I would seriously have to stop and consider my answer. Especially after doing a little (well, not so little) baby bump shoot for Josh and Emma, expecting their very first little person just a few weeks later. You would struggle to find a more perfectly crafted baby bump than that of Em’s belly, and I would have to say that the words ‘unreservedly chuffed’ would be the only way to describe the twinkle in Josh’s eyes.
Josh and Emma perfectly exhibited that serene glow that comes all wrapped up in the little package called ‘newly created mum and dad’. You honestly couldn’t have found me two people more content and happy in these moments than these two, and it was something that was just so thrilling to capture!
Josh and Em, I hope that every second continues to be more amazing than the last now that little lady, Indigo Aurelia, has arrived!

How much fun to meet a new family and be given a small snapshot into their lives…a snapshot that reveals so much about the many varied dimensions that make up a family unit.
The Thomas family didn’t hesitate in showing me the many sides to their family’s little personality during our photo shoot – the fun, the thoughtful, the down to earth, the wacky, the pensive and best of all the utter joy that they find being in each other’s company…and I loved every minute of it!
Most intriguing of all was watching how each of them so naturally complement each other, moving so fluidly between bursts of excitement to moments of pure contentment. It was lovely to watch, and lovely to capture, and made me realise the true value in having a family as grounded, as thoughtful, as full of energy and as loving as these guys…thank you for sharing all of this and more with me!

Oh me, oh my…isn’t family just scrumptious, especially when it’s your OWN?
I could think of no better way to kick off my first official Luminate Photography photoshoot than with my very own family…mind you, family that is a) incredibly good looking, b) has an amazing Adelaide Hills backyard vista to die for and c) is incredibly good looking. It wasn’t hard to put two and two together.
My drop-dead-divine sister, and brother-in-law-that-is-a-brother have built such a beautiful little set of kidlets around them, and it was so much fun to FINALLY capture everything that makes up this family…all of which is generally included on my list of “What My Family Will One Day Be Like”
They are pretty much the epitome of awesome, with so much love, happiness, respect and goodness buzzing between all five of them…it’s electric, and alive and enough to make you grin until you can’t bear it.
And the best part is? They’re all mine. High five to that.
